Privacy Policy

Explicate is built to do one thing quickly: translate text you give it. We collect as little as possible to make that work.

What we collect

Account. You sign in with Apple. We store your Apple-provided user identifier, and — only if you choose to share them — your name and email address.
Settings and usage counts. Your chosen language pair, app settings, subscription status, and a daily count of how many translations you make. Counts are used to enforce plan limits.
Basic translation events. When a translation completes we log the language pair, character count, and your plan tier. We do not store the text you translate.

How translation works

The text you submit is sent to OpenAI's API to produce your translation and is subject to OpenAI's API data policies. We do not use your text for advertising, and we do not sell any of your data.

Where data lives

Account, settings, and usage data are stored with Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore). Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete account removes your account and all data we hold about you. This is immediate and permanent.
